Galileo Reference Stations | G2STB – GESS

On behalf of the European Space Agency (ESA), GMV is developing the Test Bed for the second generation of the Galileo system (G2STB). The G2STB will enable various monitoring, debugging, prototyping and experimental activities related to the Galileo system. In the course of the project, the G2STB will ensure the upgrade of the Galileo Experimental Reference Stations (GESS) network to ensure compatibility with the new G2G signals and capabilities.

The GFZ contributes to G2STB with the support and maintenance of a total of five GESS stations. These are located at sites in our global GNSS network:

  • Dunedin, New Zealand

  • Mizusawa, Japan

  • Colombo, Sri Lanka

  • La Plata, Argentina

  • Sutherland, South Africa

G2STB is developed on behalf of the European Union Space Programme Agency (EUSPA) and the European Union represented by the European Commission (COM).
