Knowledge Transfer

We understand knowledge transfer as a diverse and application-oriented activity. It is based on research results and is aligned with the needs of various target groups in society and politics. In this way, the GFZ contributes to better coping with future and current challenges in the field of earth and environment.

Scientific findings are made available to social stakeholders in various formats. Through advisory services, participation in relevant committees, dialog, outreach and training services and information platforms, political decision-makers and civil society groups are empowered to make solid and evidence-based decisions.

A special feature of the Earth and Environment research area is the transfer activities coordinated between different centers, which synthesize and communicate scientific results from different research areas (SynCom).

Relevant information on key scientific topics at the GFZ is presented in the form of fact sheets in a clear and comprehensible way. Questions about how to deal with natural hazards such as flooding are answered, as are questions about energy security, CO2 storage, the global water balance and the importance of exploring the subsurface.
