This year’s German Geothermal Congress (DGK 2026) will take place from 20 to 22 October 2026 at the Kongresshotel in Potsdam. What makes it special? This year, the GFZ Helmholtz Centre for Geosciences is the main scientific partner of the German Geothermal Congress. With over 550 participants, the Geothermal Congress is the key industry gathering for those interested in geothermal energy from science, business and politics. The official partner country for this year’s congress is Hungary.

The DGK is the key industry gathering for anyone involved in geothermal energy from a scientific, economic or political perspective. The range of topics covers deep, medium-depth and near-surface geothermal energy, through to heat and cold storage, and issues relating to energy and research policy.

The GFZ is playing a versatile role in organising the congress together with the organiser German Geothermal Association (BVG): it holds leading positions on the scientific committee, will deliver a keynote speech during the opening programme, will participate in the panel discussion, and will be represented by numerous contributions to the scientific programme as well as a stand at the accompanying trade exhibition.
