The GFZ has been participating in the International Radio Occultation Working Group (IROWG) since 2009. 

IROWG was established as a permanent working group of the Coordination Group on Meteorological Satellites (CGMS) during its 37th meeting from October 26 to 30, 2009 in South Korea. The IROWG is co-sponsored by CGMS and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). It serves as a forum for users of radio occultation data in the fields of weather forecast, climate, and research. 

The GFZ is particularly involved in the working group “Climate”.
