Cooperation for Sustainable Geothermal Heat Supply in Potsdam
The collaboration between Stadtwerke Potsdam (Energie und Wasser Potsdam GmbH, EWP) and the GFZ aims to sustainably develop the geothermal heat supply for the city of Potsdam. The primary objective is to assess the current state of the geothermal field in the Potsdam area and to conduct model-based evaluations regarding the performance, sustainability, and lifespan of geothermal technologies, including low-temperature applications. This joint project focuses on geological and geophysical site exploration, local reservoir development, process monitoring, and the integration of sustainable energy concepts into the city's heating supply.
