We operate and support geomagnetic observatories worldwide, providing unique and important scientific data for research into the Earth's core and mantle, as well as the ionosphere in the upper atmosphere and the magnetosphere in near-Earth space. The observatory data is made available for scientific use through established international programmes and global data centres. Our data is also used in navigation, raw material exploration and space weather monitoring. In addition, we compile and distribute the international geomagnetic Kp index and the Kp-like Hpo indices developed by us.
