On March 26, 2025, Sophia Dosch successfully defended her dissertation “Synergies of sediment and carbon cycling in the Río Bermejo.” Supervised by Niels Hovius and Dirk Sachse, Sophia investigated how sediment transport and deposition in a floodplain affect carbon sequestration. Her findings contribute to a better understanding of how natural landscapes can store carbon long-term.
