The Galileo Reference Centre (GRC) is based in Noordwijk, the Netherlands. Its tasks include monitoring the Galileo satellite orbits and clocks and the performance of Galileo and EGNOS. EUSPA brings in additional and independent expertise from the EU member states (plus Norway), e.g., via the call EUSPA/GRANT/03/2021 ‘Support for Galileo/EGNOS Performance Monitoring Activities’.
The GEMOP consortium with partner institutions from 15 European countries has been covering the following activities for Galileo and EGNOS since 2023
Provide GNSS data from reference stations
Generate products from GNSS data
Monitor GNSS and EGNOS signals
Analyzing the performance of Galileo and EGNOS

A key feature of the project is that it utilizes existing structures in the member states.
The GFZ contributes to GEMOP by providing GNSS data for GEMOP reference stations and leading the work package on Satellite Laser Ranging measurement campaigns. In this work package, the SLR station at GFZs performs special observation campaigns twice a year. The collected SLR data is used to validate the satellite orbits determined in the project.
