HOWAS21 and FLEMO - Data and models for damage assessment
Data and models on flood damage provide important information for risk analysis. They are also required for cost-benefit analyses of climate change adaptation measures. The GFZ's HOWAS-21 database contains several thousand data sets on historical, building-specific flood damage. These form the basis of the FLEMO damage models, which can estimate flood damage to private households and businesses. FLEMO models are unique in that they can take into account various factors, such as the damage-reducing effect of private precautions, and automatically quantify model uncertainty.
