Arnd Heumann is Head of Strategic Themes in the Scientific Executive Director’s Team at the GFZ Helmholtz Centre for Geosciences in Potsdam. He joined GFZ in 2010, initially supporting coordination activities related to geological CO2 storage. From 2011, he assumed responsibility as Science and Programme Manager for an international research initiative that brought together four Helmholtz Centres and Canadian partners to strengthen collaboration in energy and environmental research. Prior to his tenure at GFZ, Arnd held positions in technology transfer and network management focused on geothermal energy at EnergyAgency.NRW, significantly contributing to regional energy initiatives in North Rhine-Westphalia. Earlier in his career, he spent 15 years in academia, during which he occupied various roles and attained advanced qualifications in geosciences, including a Master’s degree and a PhD from universities in Germany and The Netherlands.
