Research Interests:

  • Electron microscopy of environmental, material and biological samples with a focus on hydrated and cryogenic conditions.
  • Development and application of workflows for plunge freezing, cryo ultramicrotomy, and Tokuyasu sample preparation.
  • Investigation of bacteria–material interfaces and the bactericidal effects of surface nanotopography.
  • Supporting global users through the PISA facility at GFZ Potsdam, offering expertise microscopy and sample preparation needs for a wide range of samples.

While our core expertise lies in environmental systems, the facility is open to diverse applications, and researchers from all fields are warmly invited to get in touch.
