Lecture Week DFG Collaborative Research Cluster 1464 TerraQ

The lecture week is aimed at early-career researchers and focuses on the topics Earth's gravity, the basics of the theory of relativity and the basics of optics.

The 3rd lecture week of the DFG Collaborative Research Centre 1464 TerraQ will take place from 10 - 14 February this year on the Telegrafenberg campus in Potsdam. Topics include the Earth's gravitational force, the basics of relativity and the fundamentals of optics, with an excursion to the Telegrafenberg.

In collaboration with the QuantumFrontiers International School (QFIRS), TerraQ organises three weeks of lectures each year at different locations in Germany, which are aimed in particular at early-career researchers (ECR). In addition to the three 90-minute lectures offered during the day, the ECRs practice team-building exercises in the evening.

The GFZ is a project partner of the sub-project 1464 TerraQ, a Special Research Centre of the German Research Foundation (DFG), and is developing innovative measurement techniques and sensors with the Leibniz University Hannover in order to improve gravimetric earth observation and precisely document climate change processes.

During the lecture week, the GFZ will be represented by the section Earth System Modelling. Our scientists will be on site as speakers and give lectures on the topics of atmosphere and ocean dynamics, geodetic monitoring techniques for hydrological applications and the deformation behaviour of the Earth.
