Information technology and computer science are the driving forces of digital transformation, which are also fundamentally changing the earth and environmental sciences. This transformation is an ongoing process that requires constant exchange between science and computer science.

A key challenge is to sustainably integrate the results of this transformation into research and to systematically further develop digital methods. The task of the eScience Centre is to accompany the GFZ's sections and working groups in this continuous process of change and to support them in the development of future-proof IT solutions.
