Dr. Joseph Magnall from Section 3.1 “Inorganic and Isotope Geochemistry” has been appointed Associate Editor of the renowned and independent journal Economic Geology. Joseph Magnall is a Senior Scientist and has headed the “Basin-hosted mineral systems” working group since 2022.
The journal Economic Geology publishes articles on aspects of economic geology, all types of mineral deposits, their tectonic location, and geochemistry. The geophysics of larger mineralized regions plays just as important a role as studies on experimental or natural systems. Other topics include process modeling, sampling statistics, exploration techniques, and environmental geochemistry of mining sites.
The journal is currently published quarterly by the Society of Economic Geologists. It has an impact factor of 5.5. The impact factor is a measure of the relative importance of a scientific journal within its field. It is a much-discussed but also widely used metric in science. The impact factor is calculated annually by Clarivate Analytics and measures the average number of citations that articles in a journal have received in a given year, divided by the number of articles published in the previous two years.
