The MUSE mission (Multispectral Ultra‑High‑Resolution Satellite Mission for Environmental Mapping and Monitoring) aims to capture climate change, biodiversity loss, and urban overheating with high precision. Equipped with multispectral sensors in the VNIR, SWIR, and TIR ranges, it is designed to deliver high‑resolution imagery (≤ 2 m VIS, ≤ 5 m SWIR, ≤ 20 m TIR) with short revisit times.
Its novel channel design will enable continuous observation of protected areas, urban heat islands, and environmental pollution, allowing early detection of emerging developments. By providing large‑scale, timely, and reliable data, MUSE will strengthen the knowledge base for climate adaptation, biodiversity strategies, and sustainable spatial planning.
The mission is intended to close existing gaps in Earth observation, enhance Germany’s data sovereignty, and support the expansion of scientific and technological capabilities. As a scalable system, MUSE is also prepared for future constellation growth.
