Two new IGS stations

Recently, our GNSS stations in Hanoi, Vietnam, and Piura, Peru were accepted for the global IGS tracking network. Including these two, GFZ contributes 26 stations to the IGS.

The station in Hanoi was installed in 2023 and is operated together with our colleagues from Hanoi University of Mining and Geology. Using the existing Leica antenna, GFZ provided the Javad receiver and is maintaining the data operations.

The station in Piura was also installed in 2023 together with the Universidad de Piura. The station is located at the geomagnetic observatory in Piura. A Javad antenna and receiver is used at this station.

The IGS tracking network is a global GNSS network providing free access to GNSS observations. Organizations contributing to the International GNSS Service operate and maintain the network. Data access to IGS stations is supplied by its data centres, data from GFZ stations is also available via ISDC and referenced via a data DOI.
