Function and Responsibilities:
PhD student in section 3.5: Interface Geochemistry
Research Interests:
Snow algae live on snow fields and form large algal blooms in summer. These blooms darken the snow due to their pigmentation. The reduction in albedo causes these areas to melt more quickly.
I am studying the physiology of various snow algae when they are exposed to light with a high intensity.
Here I am investigating the influence of light on the photosystem of the algae using pulse amplitude modulation (PAM) measurements and the intracellular production of reactive oxygen species (ROS).
