Potsdam company run 2025 through Sanssouci Park

5-kilometre fun run, team spirit and great performances. The colleagues put their sporting skills to the test.

On Wednesday 28 May, the GFZ colleagues started this year's IKK BB company run in the second wave at 6:15 pm in summer temperatures. The 5-kilometre course began at the magnificent Neues Palais, led through the magnificent Sanssouci Park along the Maulbeerallee, then through the Eichenallee in Bornstedt and finally ended again in front of the colonnades at the Neues Palais.

This year, over 6,000 participants from 354 companies, authorities, associations and institutions in the Potsdam economic region completed the course. There were more runners than ever before!

At the GFZ, too, more and more colleagues are enjoying the sporting event every year: last year, 101 colleagues took part in the run through the beautiful park avenues, this year the GFZ already had a proud 114 participants. There were many female runners among the newcomers this time. The proportion of women in 2024 was 37 percent. This year, 44 percent of runners were women.

With great joy in running and a lot of team spirit, the colleagues achieved great results as every year. We are delighted with the excellent results!

Our fastest woman was Zlata Trepalova , student assistant in the Geoenergy section. She mastered the course in a time of 22 minutes and 23 seconds.

Linus Kittan, a trainee in Section 3.4 Fluid System Modelling, was the fastest man at the GFZ. He completed the 5 kilometre course in a time of 17 minutes and 20 seconds.

Bruno Teske came second in the medal classification in the "Fastest Secretary" category!

The fastest four runners of the registered teams were combined for the team rankings.

Colleagues Peter Makus (4.6 Geomorphology), Sean Gallen (4.7 Earth Surface Process Modelling), Frank Springer (Purchasing Department) and Linus Kittan were also able to defend their second place in the ‘Fastest Male Team’ category, even finishing in a better time than in 2024!

In the mixed teams (2 women and 2 men) Linus Kittan, Frank Springer, Zlata Trepalova and Taylor Schildgen were able to secure 4th place.

Our women's team, which this year consisted of Zlata Trepalova, Taylor Schildgen, Emily Stevenson and Mirjam Paasch, finished in 12th place.

As always, the IKK BB Potsdam 2025 company run was a highlight. We are delighted with the enthusiastic participation and the many new and old faces that enrich our GFZ team every year.

We congratulate all the runners for their outstanding personal achievements and look forward to seeing so many taking part again next year.
